Purpose of the Role:
The IT Technician is responsible for providing technical support, guidance, and maintenance for internal and external users of IT systems and applications. This role involves installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting computer systems and networks to ensure optimal functionality and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. IT Support and Troubleshooting:

Provide technical support and assistance via telephone, email, or other network interaction.

Troubleshoot and resolve software-related issues.
-
Apply the incident management procedure effectively.
-
Troubleshoot network issues and escalate when necessary.
-
Provide 1st level network support to address networking infrastructure problems.
-
Access the Help Desk to manage and resolve IT-related calls.
-
Diagnose and resolve reported issues efficiently.
-
Offer subject matter expertise and guidance in the area of responsibility.
2. System Installation and Maintenance:

Install and configure ICT equipment and software, including desktops, laptops, printers, projectors, access control systems (alarm & biometrics), and handheld devices.

Maintain and update desktops and laptops to ensure peak performance.
-
Manage inventory of IT hardware, software, and resources with 100% accuracy.
-
Prepare old hardware for disposal according to company policies.
-
Set up new users on relevant systems.
-
Ensure alert monitoring and housekeeping in DC, UPS Room, Tech Room, and office equipment installations.
3. Reporting, Monitoring, and Evaluation:

Align ICT reporting with standards, guidelines, and schedules.
-
Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of reports related to IT activities.

Manage daily cost management and initiate one cost-saving measure per quarter.

Conduct alert monitoring to preemptively address potential issues.
4. Security Management:
-
Implement and maintain security measures to protect IT systems and data.
-
Manage antivirus software and access controls to safeguard networks from cyber threats.
-
Ensure data backup procedures are in place and followed.
-
Adhere to company policies and legislation regarding IT security and data protection.
5. Team Collaboration and Communication:

Foster good working relationships within the IT team and across departments.

Act as an effective team player by sharing knowledge and providing support to co-workers.

Use communication channels effectively to keep stakeholders informed.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

Educational Requirements:

Grade 12
-
CompTIA A+ Certification

CompTIA Network+ Certification
-
CompTIA Security+ Certification
-
MCSA (Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate)

CCNA / Fortinet NSE4 – 7 (advantageous)

Degree or Diploma in an ICT-related field (advantageous)

Experience:

Minimum 5 years of experience in data management and IT support.

Skills and Knowledge:

Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP protocols.

Proficiency in hardware and software maintenance.

Knowledge of incident management and reporting.

Proficiency in troubleshooting and network support.
-
Familiarity with data security practices and antivirus management.

Valid driver’s license.
