Lake County Government is Hiring a Senior Center Driver
Location: Leadville, CO
Job Type: Part-Time (10-20 hours/week)
Compensation: $18 – $20 per hour
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Overview:
Lake County Government is seeking a Senior Center Driver to assist with the transportation needs of senior citizens in the area. This role involves driving seniors to medical appointments, meals, shopping outings, and other social excursions. The position is part-time, offering flexible hours with the potential to work 10-20 hours per week, and is not eligible for benefits.
Key Responsibilities:
Transportation: Safely transport seniors to and from meals, medical appointments, and social excursions.
Food Delivery: Assist in unloading and delivering monthly food boxes to seniors.
Support Snow Removal: Occasionally help with snow removal as part of the Senior Center’s support programs.
Other Duties: Assist with other tasks as assigned by the Senior Center staff.
Required Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Driver’s License: Current Colorado Driver’s License and a clean driving record.
Background Check: Ability to pass a Colorado Bureau of Investigation Background Check.
Communication Skills: Clear oral and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs, drive a county vehicle, operate a wheelchair lift, and assist seniors with mobility.
Customer Service: A willingness to assist the senior community with empathy and respect.
Preferred Qualifications:
Language Skills: Proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
Work Environment & Physical Activity:
This job requires working both indoors and outdoors. You will assist seniors to and from vehicles in varying weather conditions, including snow and rain.
Physical Demands: Activities include extensive sitting, standing, bending, assisting seniors in and out of vehicles, and lifting items up to 35 lbs.
Additional Information:
Emergency/Disaster Responsibilities: All employees may be required to work as a Disaster Service Worker during local emergencies or disasters.
