Airport Attendant (Airside) at Miami-Dade County – Miami, FL
Job Overview:
This is a full-time position at Miami International Airport or a smaller airfield managed by Miami-Dade County. The role involves a mix of operational and clerical duties to support airfield operations and ensure the safety and efficiency of airport services.
Key Responsibilities:
Transporting Passengers:
Operate a large passenger service vehicle to transport passengers between different areas of the airfield and the terminal.
Passenger Information:
Collect and organize information about the expected arrival times of international flights.
Airport Security:
Monitor airport security using closed-circuit television (CCTV) to maintain passenger safety and help secure the airport.
Enforce airport rules and regulations.
Airfield Inspections:
Perform safety inspections on the airfield to ensure everything is up to standards.
Auxiliary Airport Duties:
At smaller airports, duties may include collecting landing fees, providing security, and ensuring that airport tenants follow the established rules and regulations.
Emergency Situations:
Use good judgment to handle emergencies and ensure the safety and security of passengers and the airfield.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or GED.
Licensing:
A valid CDL/Class B Florida Driver’s License with Passenger (P) Endorsement and Air-brake.
Security:
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Miami-Dade Aviation Department ID badge with a CBP seal.
Applicants will undergo extensive security screening, including fingerprint checks and employment verification. This security clearance is required throughout the duration of employment.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Ability to handle operational duties and perform them according to airport rules and procedures.
Ability to make quick decisions in emergency situations and handle challenges that may arise on the job.
Work Environment:
Location: Miami International Airport or a smaller airfield.
Shifts: This role involves working on a scheduled shift.
Employment Requirements:
Applicants will undergo a thorough background check, including fingerprinting and employment history verification, as required by federal law. Maintaining security clearance is an ongoing condition of employment.
