About the Job

Académie Lafayette is looking for a caring and qualified ELL (English Language Learner) Teacher to help students improve their English in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. You will work with students from different backgrounds and help them understand and use English better.

This job is part of a French immersion program, so teamwork with other teachers is very important.

Main Responsibilities

• Test students using W-APT and ACCESS exams (WIDA testing)
• Keep your WIDA certification up to date each year
• Teach English lessons based on each student’s needs
• Provide both push-in (in the classroom) and pull-out (in small groups) support
• Work closely with classroom teachers to support ELL students
• Keep all records and paperwork organized for school and state reviews
• Monitor the progress of current and former ELL students
• Join school meetings and follow all school rules and deadlines

What You Need (Qualifications)

• A Bachelor’s degree
• A valid or eligible Missouri Teaching Certificate (ELL certification is a plus)
• At least 2 years of teaching experience (especially for international candidates)
• Good communication and organization skills
• Ability to work well with people from many cultures
• Able to handle more than one task and meet deadlines
• Comfortable using technology in the classroom

Other Requirements

• Must pass state and federal background checks (through MACHS)
• Must be registered with the Family Care Safety Registry

You will report to the Principal of your campus/building.
