About the Role
Counties Manukau Health is looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Maternal Mental Health Perinatal Team in South Auckland, New Zealand. This is a rewarding role helping pregnant women and mothers of babies under 12 months who are facing mental health challenges.

The team also works closely with the Infant Mental Health Team (Whakatupu Ora), which helps young children (ages 0–4) and their families. Both teams meet regularly to discuss cases and offer joint care when needed.

You will work both in clinics and out in the community. The office is based at Springs Road, East Tamaki, and the job covers the Counties Manukau Health area.

Your Main Responsibilities
Provide mental health assessments and treatment for pregnant women and new mothers.
Work closely with the Infant Mental Health team for joint support of families.
Plan treatments and offer care that respects cultural values and family needs.
Help with early intervention to support long-term recovery.
Collaborate with a team of doctors, nurses, social workers, and other health professionals.

Requirements
Registered Psychiatrist with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) (or eligible for registration)
Experience working with families, infants, or young children
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work well in a diverse cultural community
