Emalahleni Local Municipality is dedicated to promoting community safety and ensuring compliance with road safety regulations. To enhance traffic management and road safety, the municipality is looking to recruit 18 qualified Traffic Officers. The successful candidates will be responsible for enforcing traffic laws, managing traffic flow, and conducting road safety education. This role is ideal for individuals with relevant training who are passionate about law enforcement and public safety.
Position Overview
The Traffic Officer will perform various enforcement duties including road patrols, identifying traffic violations, managing traffic at accident scenes, and conducting safety awareness campaigns. This role is crucial for reducing road accidents, increasing public safety awareness, and maintaining orderly traffic conditions throughout the Emalahleni jurisdiction.
Key Responsibilities

Monitor traffic flow and enforce traffic regulations on municipal roads.

Patrol assigned areas to detect illegal parking, road obstructions, and unsafe driving practices.

Issue traffic fines and manage law enforcement procedures on-site.

Report violations that cannot be enforced immediately.

Conduct road safety campaigns and public awareness initiatives.

Control traffic during special events, emergencies, and at accident scenes.

Investigate traffic-related incidents and compile detailed reports.

Ensure compliance with vehicle safety and road usage standards.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

Grade 12 (Matric Certificate).
-
NQF Level 5 Certificate in Basic Traffic Training.

Valid Code EB Driver’s License.

Firearm Proficiency Certificate.
-
No criminal record.
-
2 to 5 years of relevant working experience.

Preference will be given to candidates residing in the Emalahleni municipal area.

Candidates not meeting all the minimum qualifications will not be considered.
