Job Description:
Accenture is looking for two lawyers to join the Employment Law (India) Legal Group at the Associate Manager level (equivalent to Deputy Manager in industry terms). The role will report to the Senior Manager/Associate Director of the Legal team. This position supports various internal stakeholders, including Employee Relations, HR, Recruitment, Workplace, Global Asset Protection (GAP), Marketing and Communication (Marcom), and Government Relations.
Role Overview:
This position involves providing legal guidance on a range of employment-related issues and requires a deep understanding of Indian labour laws, investigation laws (such as POSH and misconduct), and court proceedings. The role will focus on the following areas:
Key Responsibilities:
- Advisory Services: Provide legal guidance on employment-related issues in India, including hiring practices, employment contracts, misconduct, discrimination, harassment, employee benefits, and termination procedures. Proactively assess and mitigate employment-related legal risks.
- Employment Disputes and Litigation: Manage employment-related disputes, claims, and litigation, including wrongful termination, discrimination claims, and wage disputes. Work closely with external legal counsel to develop strategies and achieve the best outcomes.
- Legal Drafting: Draft legal documents, including statements and responses to claims. Conduct legal research to support case strategies and stay up-to-date on recent case laws and legal precedents in labour and employment law.
- Sexual Harassment Law (POSH): Advise on matters related to the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, ensuring compliance and providing guidance on related issues.
- Policy Review: Collaborate with stakeholders to develop, review, and implement employment policies and procedures that comply with local laws and align with the organization’s values.
- Regulatory Monitoring: Track changes in employment laws and regulations, assess their impact on the organization, and recommend proactive measures to ensure compliance and minimize risks.
- Labour Compliance: Ensure the company’s adherence to labour laws and regulations, including the Shops and Establishments Act.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Legal Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Indian labour laws and regulations, with experience in employment law, employee relations, misconduct investigations, and sexual harassment laws.
- Court Experience: Proficiency in drafting legal documents and court submissions, with practical experience handling employment disputes in tribunals and courts.
- Legal Research & Analysis: Strong legal research skills and the ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide actionable recommendations.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to collaborate with various internal teams and provide clear, actionable legal advice.
