About the Role
Te Whetu Tawera is a mental health unit at Auckland City Hospital. We are looking for a Clinical Psychologist to join our team. You will work with a multidisciplinary group to assess, plan, and deliver psychological care to patients who are acutely unwell. The role involves brief interventions for patients in the hospital, including group work.
Key Responsibilities
Assessment and formulation: Conduct psychological assessments and create treatment plans
Psychological interventions: Provide brief treatments, such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)
Group work: Facilitate therapeutic groups for patients
Bicultural commitment: Ensure that Māori patients receive culturally safe care and have equitable outcomes
Collaboration: Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic care
Skills and Qualifications
Clinical Psychology Postgraduate Degree or equivalent
Current registration with the New Zealand Psychologists Board, with a Clinical Scope of Practice
Experience in inpatient settings, including group work
Skills in CBT, DBT, and mindfulness-based therapies
Neuro-psychological/Cognitive assessment skills are an advantage
A commitment to biculturalism and achieving equitable outcomes for Māori
