Job Title: IBDP Chemistry Teacher
Department: Academics – International Baccalaureate (IBDP)
Reporting To: IBDP Coordinator / Head of School
Job Purpose
To deliver high-quality Chemistry instruction aligned with the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) standards, foster scientific inquiry, and support students in achieving excellence in internal assessments, external examinations, and overall academic development.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
Plan and deliver engaging Chemistry lessons for DP1 and DP2 in accordance with the IB Diploma Programme guidelines.
Use inquiry-based teaching methods and promote conceptual understanding.
Prepare lesson plans, unit planners, and instructional materials following IB standards and practices.
Guide students in conducting practical work, experiments, and investigations safely and effectively.
Prepare students for IA (Internal Assessment), EE (Extended Essay), and final examinations.
Assessment & Reporting
Design and evaluate formative and summative assessments aligned with IB criteria.
Maintain accurate records of student progress in line with IB expectations.
Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and parents.
Contribute to internal standardization and moderation processes.
IB Curriculum & Documentation
Contribute to the development and review of IBDP Chemistry curriculum documents.
Ensure compliance with the IB Programme Standards, ATL skills, and learner profile attributes.
Attend IB workshops, trainings, and professional development sessions as required.
Student Support & Mentoring
Provide academic support, doubt-clearing, and exam preparation assistance.
Mentor students undertaking Chemistry Extended Essays.
Encourage students to participate in science fairs, Olympiads, and related competitions.
Collaboration & School Responsibilities
Work collaboratively with faculty across disciplines to support interdisciplinary learning.
Participate in department meetings, parent meetings, and school events.
Contribute to CAS, TOK integration, and overall DP culture.
Follow school policies, safety protocols, laboratory management guidelines, and pastoral care expectations.
Qualifications & Skills
Education
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field.
Professional teaching qualification preferred (B.Ed / M.Ed).
Experience
Minimum 2–5 years of experience teaching Chemistry, preferably in an international curriculum.
Prior IBDP Chemistry teaching experience will be an advantage.
Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of IBDP Chemistry syllabus
Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to guide students in inquiry-based learning and scientific investigation.
Technologically proficient (Google Classroom, LMS, lab software, etc.).
Passion for student development and continuous learning.
