Job Overview:
The General Assistant role at Cashbuild involves providing excellent customer service, managing stock, ensuring the store is organized and clean, and maintaining safety standards. You will assist customers with product inquiries, help with merchandising, and ensure the store is well-maintained at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service:
Advise customers on the correct products and help with any queries.
Assist in resolving customer complaints effectively.
Merchandising Standards:
Merchandise bulk stock safely according to the store layout and planograms.
Ensure your area is fully stocked and well-organized.
Housekeeping:
Ensure that aisles are free from obstacles, and stock is displayed correctly as soon as it arrives.
Maintain correct shelf price labeling.
Complete the required checklist, including schedules for the canteen and toilet/shower areas.
Safety (OHSA) Requirements:
Comply with safety regulations and wear safety gear when necessary.
Ensure that the store’s racking and bulk stock are safe for customers and colleagues.
Report any discrepancies to the Store Manager.
Manage Stock Loss:
Report damaged stock within your area of responsibility to the Store Manager.
Drive for Results:
Achieve targets and maintain a high standard of work.
Follow best practices to ensure quality and consistency.
Problem Solving:
Identify problems and address their root causes.
Use relevant information to resolve issues within your department.
Decision Making:
Make decisions within the framework of company policies, ensuring they are in line with set guidelines.
Implement decisions with consideration for their impact on your area of responsibility.
Planning:
Plan within the guidelines of store procedures and policies.
Handle Pressure:
Stay calm under pressure, managing workload and time effectively.

Assist customers, colleagues, and suppliers with respect and courtesy.

Communication:
Communicate effectively with customers, colleagues, and management, adhering to company values.
Share relevant information with appropriate stakeholders.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
Minimum Grade 10 or NQF Level 3 with at least 1 year of work-related experience, or Grade 12 without relevant experience.
Skills:
Ability to perform basic calculations.
Strong communication skills in English and the dominant language of the area.
Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks at once.
Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
Other Requirements:
Valid South African ID or work permit.
